    If you have decided that another four years of Donald Trump would be intolerable, and the prospect of four more years of the dysfunctional Trump circus in the White House fills you with dread, fine. But approach the prospects of a Joe Biden presidency with clear eyes and no illusions. Electing Biden would move the country pretty dramatically to the left in all but the most optimistic scenarios.

    The first question is how much of a Joe Biden presidency we get. The former vice president turns 78 shortly after the election. Hopefully, he lives to be 100 and is capable of handling the duties of the presidency every day that he is in office. But there is no way to get around the concerns about Biden’s age and health. Biden’s campaign schedule is particularly light, even accounting for his lead and the complications of the coronavirus pandemic. A recent poll of swing-state voters found 52 percent think Biden is not mentally fit to be president. The same poll of the same sample found Biden led Trump 49 percent to 45 percent — meaning some voters think he is mentally unfit and intend to vote for him anyway. A vote for Biden may well turn out to be a vote for Kamala Harris to assume the office of the presidency sometime in the next four years.

    If you think of yourself as being on the right and can’t abide another four years of Trump, you have to be pulling out all the stops for the continuation of a Republican-controlled Senate, and hope for victories by Cory Gardner, Susan Collins, Thom Tillis, Martha McSally, David Purdue, Joni Ernst, Steve Daines, Kelly Loeffler, Roger Marshall, Tommy Tuberville, and other key state GOP candidates in November.

    Democrats have not controlled the House, the Senate, and the presidency since January 2011. There is a decade’s worth of pent-up legislative ambitions among liberals and progressives. A President Biden and a Democrat-controlled Senate will create a two-year window for the Left to push through every bill they possibly can before the midterm elections.

    It is safe to assume that if Biden is elected, Ruth Bader Ginsburg will retire and possibly Stephen Breyer as well. Clarence Thomas turned 72 this year. Samuel Alito turned 70 this year. President Trump and Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell have done much to shape the federal judiciary over the past four years, but the Biden administration would begin its own efforts to promote young, bright judges who believe in an ever-changing “living Constitution.” A Republican-controlled Senate would force the Biden administration to compromise; in a Democratic-controlled Senate, it would be full speed ahead.

    We have a few vague ideas about what a Biden cabinet would look like. Susan Rice would likely be back in some foreign-policy post, perhaps secretary of state or secretary of defense — meaning that much of the Obama foreign policy, particularly the Iran deal and tougher line with Israel, would be back. Elizabeth Warren is reportedly in the running for Treasury secretary, a scenario described as “Wall Street’s nightmare” that would almost certainly guarantee continued hostility between the new administration and the business community. Sally Yates is a strong possibility to be Biden’s attorney general — and she may well follow the recommendation of Kamala Harris to pursue criminal charges against Donald Trump for obstruction of justice after he leaves office.

    Joe Biden may not be on the left wing of his party, but Biden’s election would strengthen and galvanize the left wing of his party and give them some control over some levers of real power in the federal government. Biden may well wish to bring America “a return to normalcy” but many of his allies don’t want normalcy. The former vice president is ideologically, temperamentally, and politically not inclined to be a bulwark against his party’s left wing and those who openly embrace an overhaul of American life more in line with the socialism envisioned by Karl Marx. A President Biden might be a speed bump if conservatives are lucky.

    Maybe a Republican Senate will be able to apply the brakes to the Biden’s worst proposals. The traditional rebuke to a president in the midterm elections — seen in 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018 — might further limit Biden and Harris’s ability to move federal policy to the left. But even in these relatively optimistic scenarios, the next time a Republican is running for the White House in 2024, the U.S. will have moved considerably to the left, in matters of economics, taxes, regulation, national security and foreign policy, immigration, and social issues — and there’s a not-so-small chance that a President Kamala Harris will be running for a full term of her own.

    Natuurlijk is Joe Biden geen ramp voor Wall Street. Wie schreef deze "analyse"?
    De Senaat in Republikeinse handen hebben we al met Obama meegemaakt. En maar tegenwerken en tegenhouden. Dat Obama geen rechter in het Supreme Court kon benoemen was pure obstructie van de Senaat.

    Als Biden wint, verwacht ik een enorme opluchtingsrally, een mooie trap na richting Trump.

    Maanden geleden beweerden de advocaten van Julian Assange dat het regime van Donald Trump de marionet van het Kremlin en voormalig congreslid Dana Rohrabacher gebruikte om Assange gratie te verlenen als hij bereid was te zwijgen over de rol van Rusland in het hackschandaal van WikiLeaks-Trump-Rusland. Opmerkelijk genoeg geeft het Trump-regime nu voor de rechtbank toe dat dit echt is gebeurd.

    Het Trump-regime probeert Assange uit het VK, waar hij momenteel wordt vastgehouden, uit te leveren aan de Verenigde Staten. Assange heeft geprobeerd uitlevering te blokkeren door erop te staan ??dat het ongepaste gratieaanbod is gebeurd. Omdat Trump en Assange beide oplichters zijn die alles zullen zeggen om zichzelf te redden, was het nooit helemaal duidelijk of dit een waar verhaal was. Maar nu een getuige van de gratiebijeenkomst hierover heeft getuigd, heeft het regime van Trump geen andere keus gehad dan het te bekennen. Dus wat nu?

    Het Trump-regime probeert nu terug te vallen op het standpunt dat Rohrabacher het gratieaanbod namens Donald Trump heeft gedaan, maar dat Trump geen idee had dat het gebeurde en dat hij een dergelijke deal niet had ondertekend. Met andere woorden, Trump gooit nu weer een oude loyale bondgenoot onder de bus in een poging het bloeden te stoppen.

    Als Donald Trump de verkiezingen verliest, zou de post-Trump DOJ Rohrabacher strafrechtelijk kunnen vervolgen wegens belemmering van de rechtsgang, aangezien zijn gratieaanbod aan Assange gedeeltelijk een poging was om het toen lopende federale onderzoek naar het verkiezingsschandaal tussen Trump en Rusland te verstoren. Rohrabacher zou dan een pleidooiovereenkomst kunnen sluiten en het bewijs kunnen leveren dat Donald Trump de deal heeft ondertekend.

    We zullen zien wat er verderop gebeurt. Maar voorlopig is het belangrijkste punt dat Donald Trump echt meer geïnteresseerd is in het beschermen van de belangen van het Kremlin dan in het beschermen van de Verenigde Staten, of zelfs in het beschermen van zijn eigen persoonlijke belangen. Trump was niet eens op zoek naar Julian Assange om het feit te verdoezelen dat WikiLeaks de DNC had gehackt om de uitkomst van de verkiezingen van 2016 te veranderen; Trump was alleen geïnteresseerd in het dwingen van Assange om de Russische betrokkenheid eruit te laten.

    Honderden pro-wapenactivisten hebben vrijdag gedemonstreerd in het State Capitol van Michigan ter ondersteuning van het recht om vuurwapens te dragen in het overheidsgebouw, evenals de bevelen van de staat om thuis te blijven vanwege het coronavirus. Zwaarbewapende demonstranten, sommigen met Zuidelijke vlaggen en Trump-campagnebanners, stonden op het gazon buiten het hoofdgebouw in Lansing met AR-15-vuurwapens en kogelvrije vesten te dragen. Bijna geen van de demonstranten droeg maskers.

    Het protest was weken geleden gepland, kort nadat de Michigan State Capitol Commission twee voorstellen had afgewezen om wapens in het staatsgebouw te verbieden. Onder de aanwezigen waren leden van de Proud Boys - een extreemrechtse, volledig mannelijke organisatie met een geschiedenis van geweld tegen politieke tegenstanders - en de Michigan Liberty Militia, een paramilitaire groepering. Volgens schattingen ligt het aantal aanwezigen op de "Tweede Amendement maart", waardoor de wetgevende zitting werd geannuleerd, tussen de 200 en 1.000.

    Dit is niet de eerste keer dat een protest als deze een sessie in het Michigan State Capitol heeft onderbroken. Rechtse activisten hebben ook de Democratische gouverneur van Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer, zowel bij haar thuis als op kantoor bedreigd, wat extra beveiliging nodig had nadat verschillende Facebook-berichten hadden opgeroepen haar te 'ophangen, gelyncht, doodgeschoten, geslagen of onthoofd'. Een van hen stelde crowdfundingbronnen voor om een ??huurmoordenaar in te huren om haar te vermoorden.

    Na twee uur van toespraken verzamelde een groep zich op de trappen van de Hall of Justice en reciteerde "U-S-A" en "nog vier jaar" voor Donald Trump.

Verwacht dat hij informatie gebruikt van een bekende Russische inlichtingenagent, en verwacht dat de GOP met complottheorieën werkt. Maak je er klaar voor.

    De juiste interpretatie moet zijn :
    Lawyers representing the US have accepted the claim that Dana Rohrabacher *said* he could get Assange a pardon.

    They have absolutely NOT accepted that Trump, or the administration, in fact offered one, only that Rohrabacher claimed this.

    Dit misverstand is de wereld ingegolpen door een tweet van news site The Daily Beast

    The administration just announced it has released $13 billion in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grants for Puerto Rico’s education and electrical systems — what the administration labeled “two of its largest grants ever for infrastructure projects in Puerto Rico.”

    The grants come a month and a half before the 2020 election, with polls suggesting Trump’s opponent Joe Biden lags behind past Democratic candidates on the Hispanic vote — and with Puerto Rican voters playing a particularly large role in the all-important swing state of Florida, which polls show currently rests on a razor’s edge. A post-Maria influx of Puerto Ricans pushed their population in the Sunshine State over 1.2 million, or about 5 percent of the state’s entire population.

    Ik heb een verkeerde vertaling gebruikt, mijn Engels is slecht, daarom zet ik steeds de Engelse link er bij.
    Dat ik het in het Nederlands er bij zet doe ik voor mijn eigen gemak om iets makkelijker terug te lezen. De vertaling met DeepL translate is.....Het regime van Donald Trump geeft voor het gerecht toe dat Julian Assange gratie werd aangeboden om Trump-Rusland te verdoezelen.

    “We could not agree to the administration’s plan to issue one-time savings cards right before a presidential election,” said Priscilla VanderVeer, the vice-president of public affairs at PhRMA, the industry’s largest trade group. “One-time savings cards will neither provide lasting help, nor advance the fundamental reforms necessary to help seniors better afford their medicines.”

    The Trump administration will send up to $14 billion in aid to U.S. farmers and ranchers struggling with falling prices, lost markets and other supply chain disruptions tied to the global pandemic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Friday.

    “America’s agriculture communities are resilient, but still face many challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic," said U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue in a statement released Friday morning.

    This is the second round of coronavirus assistance President Donald Trump will send to U.S. farmers. Perdue announced the first $19 billion round in April as the coronavirus roiled the nation's food supply chain.
