Alles in één handeling. Of Wikipedia?

Ethereum Ik noemde ‘Ethereum’ in het begin van dit artikel ‘the new kid on the block’.
Increasing Demand for Blockchain Sets Nvidia Up for Big Profits 3777 Total views 157 Total shares Today, many companies are already adopting Blockchain technology. Market and Markets reports that the Blockchain market size is likely to grow from last year's $210.2 mln to $2,312.5 mln in 2021. Though Blockchain mainly targets banks, payment systems, and financial institutions, other companies have seen promise in the technology as well. Airbnb, Uber and Capital One are just a few of the major corporations integrating Blockchain into their systems. This move may make one chipmaker, Nvidia, some extra profit. Why are they adopting Blockchain? Right now, banks worldwide are prone to cyberattacks, hacks and malware, causing consumers to lose confidence in ATMs and credit cards due to the threat of identity theft.Financial institutions have also shown themselves to be surprisingly prone to losing customer data, and in the process, consumer trust. Blockchain technology aims to help lessen and combat such security concerns by helping to prevent identify theft and counterfeit transactions. Former Ethereum lead developer Roman Mandelei shared: “I think the identity hacking will be solved through Blockchain because if your identity is controlled by one private key that is saved by you personally, there is no way to hack it, or at least much less than in the traditional database systems.” Blockchain boost great for Nvidia business With various large corporations are now looking at integrating Blockchain technology into their current systems, such move could positively reflect on Nvidia’s sales. Major firms like IBM and Samsung are already hiring more Bitcoin and Blockchain experts than ever before for their new initiatives. If these companies use chips produced by Nvidia, it would mean big wins for the chip manufacturer.
Is Blockchain Technology Really the Answer to Decentralized Storage? 12723 Total views 333 Total shares The Blockchain has become much more than a simple piece of technology. It has become a symbol for freedom, transparency and fairness. With this being said, it’s no wonder we see projects leveraging Blockchain tech as a “one-size-fits-all” tool to solve all sorts of problems, many of which could not be further from the original purpose of the Blockchain. Nowadays, the words “Blockchain technology” are thrown around alot and sometimes the use of the technology itself is unnecessary. Tim Swanson, Director of Market Research at R3CEV has even coined the term "chain washing" to describe companies/startups that are using or trying to use Blockchain technology in certain areas when in fact, they could be using more advanced technology for the purpose at hand. This becomes especially evident when it comes to file and data storage. Although the Bitcoin Blockchain is basically a decentralized database for transactions, accounts and balances, keeping that information on a decentralized ledger is already proving to be a challenge due to capacity issues. Nevertheless, several projects and companies insist on looking at Blockchain-based solutions for storage and, while there are clear cases of misguided enthusiasm when it comes to the use of Blockchain technology, there are some projects out there that are worth taking a look at. Blockchain Technology as an Incentive Layer When it comes to a mutualistic relation between Decentralized Ledger Technology (DLT) and data storage, the most common use case for the Blockchain is as an incentive layer. This means that data isn’t stored on the Blockchain itself, but the network at hand is able to leverage the Blockchain as a ledger for automatic payments and/or for value exchange, enabling users to pay for storage or access to files. In this case, the advantages for using the Blockchain over any other technology are clear. These include faster settling times, lower transaction fees (which enable microtransactions), higher privacy and the ability for transparent and immutable record keeping. While the Blockchain isn’t being used for data storage, it is providing the foundation on which the decentralized network is built, allowing it to run with no central authority whatsoever. There are several projects leveraging the Blockchain in such a way. Storj, one of the first and most successful decentralized storage networks on the cryptosphere, comes to mind. The project started out using a Bitcoin-based asset but later moved to an ERC20 token on the Ethereum Blockchain. This token, the Storj Coin (SCJX), is used by clients to pay for storage and acts as an incentive for nodes that keep part of the client’s files. These files have been previously shredded, encrypted, and distributed to multiple nodes in order to ensure their safety and availability. Another popular example is Filecoin, a project developed by Protocol Labs, the creators of the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS). In case you aren’t familiar with IPFS, it is an alternative p2p hypermedia protocol that allows files to be stored in a permanent and decentralized fashion. This provides historic versioning for files, removes duplicates and even allows users to save on bandwidth since files are downloaded from multiple computers and not from a single server. While IPFS provides a basis for the storage of files, Protocol Labs took this one step further with the development of Filecoin which, according to the whitepaper, “works as an incentive layer on top of IPFS.” The system is different from the one used by Storj on many levels. In Filecoin, miners are paid to store and retrieve files, while also receiving mining rewards from their “useful Proof of Work." There is also no set price for file storage. Instead, users and miners place buy and sell orders in a decentralized storage exchange, making Filecoin a competitive marketplace in which prices can adapt to outside conditions. While Filecoin and Storj focus on providing affordable cloud storage services, a project named Decent is currently working on a decentralized content sharing platform which allows users to upload and monetize/share their work (videos, music, ebooks, etc) without the need to rely on a centralized third party. Users can access content in a much more affordable way by skipping these intermediaries while the nodes that host the content are rewarded with fees. Much like Storj, the files stored by the nodes on the Decent network are shredded and encrypted. Blockchain for storage? Is it possible? Storing data on a Blockchain like Bitcoin would be doable, in theory. However, Bitcoin’s current blocksize limit only allows for 1MB of data to be stored every 10 minutes. Even if you remove that limit, nodes will eventually stop being able to maintain a copy of the Blockchain due to its size, resulting in a centralized and easily-disruptable network. Of course, the scalability problem hasn’t deterred developers from trying to use the Blockchain as a storage solution and a project called Archain may just have found a solution. Archain is a cryptocurrency project that wants to address online censorship by creating a decentralized archive for the internet. To do so, Archain will leverage a new Blockchain-derivative data structure, the "blockweave" which according to the whitepaper, allows the network scale to an “arbitrary size." Once a user submits a page for archiving on the Archain system, it is stored on the blockweave with the fees paid by the user being allocated to the miner that finds the block at hand. Since the Archain requires miners to store both the current block and a previous block that has been randomly picked from the blockweave, miners have an incentive to store as much as the data as they can without being forced to store the entire blockweave. As such, Archain is able to ensure that content requested by users is always available without the need for it to be stored by every single node on the network. Archain is also able to address download speeds by incentivising users to propagate poorly-mirrored blocks.
Why Blockchain Technology is Perfect for Fighting DDoS Attacks 4704 Total views 266 Total shares Security Technological innovations with Blockchain technology are popping up all the time. From real estate to data services, these applications are excellent use cases for how Blockchain technology will reshape the face of digital information. A recent development in the Blockchain technology space may be used to put an end to DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks, according to Inc.com. These attacks use mass requests to render a website useless to its intended users, and cause affected sites to be knocked offline. Centralized vs. decentralized Current systems use centralized servers to try to absorb the large volume of spam information that can result in DDoS. However, the nature of DDoS attacks makes the bandwidth required to process this much data almost insurmountable. A decentralized platform allows users to rent out their bandwidth, which can then be pooled to allow for substantially greater amounts of data processing, greatly reducing the risk of DDoS success. According to inc.com: “By using Blockchain, Maryland-based Gladius is creating a system that would allow people to rent out their unused bandwidth, so that it can be used to absorb malicious DDoS traffic and mitigate attacks.” The decentralized platform provides a system whereby pooled bandwidth can be accessed and utilized in ways far superior to single-server centralized models, where bandwidth is limited.

PDATE 1-JPMorgan launches payments network using blockchain technology 17/10/17 00:30 Bookmark and Share File photo of a sign outside the headquarters of JP Morgan Chase & Co in New York, September 19, 2013. (Adds details on blockchain) Oct 16 (Reuters) - JPMorgan Chase & Co said on Monday it launched a new payment processing network that uses blockchain technology, in partnership with Royal Bank of Canada and Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ). Blockchain, a shared ledger of transactions maintained by a network of computers on the internet, is the technology that underpins cryptocurrency bitcoin. The Interbank Information Network will allow payments to reach beneficiaries faster with fewer steps and better security, JPMorgan said on Monday. (http://reut.rs/2ylXai4) While JPMorgan Chief Jamie Dimon has spoken out against bitcoin, he and other banking executives have lauded the technology. (http://reut.rs/2ym0r0U) JPMorgan and many of its competitors have invested millions of dollars in the technology in hopes that it can be adapted to simplify and lower the costs of processes such as securities settlement, loan trading and international money transfers. "Blockchain capabilities have allowed us to rethink how critical information can be sourced and exchanged between global banks," said Emma Loftus, head of global payments and foreign exchange at J.P. Morgan Treasury Services. The network will be powered by Quorum, a blockchain technology developed by JPMorgan. Other banks are expected to join in the coming months, the bank said.

On that note, the company announced in June that it is “taking steps towards a go-to production phase” of the Interbit, having completed its European energy trading pilot. As noted in the press release, the 12-week pilot included building the framework on an energy trading confirmation solution to BTL’s platform, which was tested in 8 different scenarios. “At BTL we truly believe that, by using blockchain technology and our proprietary platform, Interbit, there is a better and more efficient way for enterprises to build applications,” Guy Halford-Thompson, cofounder and CEO of BTL said. “Having demonstrated the reductions in risk and cost savings that are achievable we now have an opportunity to deliver the first successful blockchain based application to the energy market. We are also very excited that the pilot has enabled participating companies to better understand the benefits of Interbit and identify other areas in their organizations where they can apply it.” At the end of August, BTL Group announced the beta launch of Interbit as it becomes closer to being launched in live commercial environment. In early November, BTL Group announced that it had increased the size of the brokered offering led by GMP Securities to $10.7 million through the offering of roughly 2.1 million units at $4.90 per unit. While the company’s headquarters are in Vancouver, BTL Group also operates in Calgary and Canary Wharf in London, England. 4. Coinsilium Group (NEX:COIN) Market cap: GB$7.82 million; current share price: GB$7.25 Coinsilium Group is a London-based blockchain technology investor that develops and invests in blockchain technologies, aiding new fintech applications. The company is the world’s first recognized IPO for blockchain technology company and lists on the NEX Exchange, a recognized investment exchange as per the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. According to its website, Coinsilium is relatively new in the blockchain field: the company has been actively involved in “accelerating seed-stage blockchain tech ventures” ever since 2014. Since then, the company has accumulated interest from blockchain companies such as Factom, RSK Labs, Minebox and Indorse. At the beginning of August, the company announced that it had completed the sale of interest in SatoshiPay, a company that processes nanopayment transactions usually in the form of bitcoins. Meanwhile, closer to the end of August Coinsilium Group announced a formation of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Terrastream, which aims to build an enterprise standard blockchain-powered platform for token-based alternative funding solutions. In late September Coinsilium announced a purchase of 5 million shares at 2.25 pence per share. By November, the company had signed a memorandum of understanding with United Mobility Technology. 5. DigitalX (ASX:DCC) Market cap: AU$81.40 million; current share price: AU$0.180 Next on our blockchain technology stocks list is DigitalX. The company provides ICO advisory services, blockchain consulting services, and blockchain-related software development. More specifically, its mobile product AirPocket provides consumers secure cross-border payments and remittances from over 30,000 payout locations in 14 countries with a heavy presence in North America and South America. DigitalX’s Bankera launched an ICO on August 28, which will provide payments, deposits, loans, and investments and will be supported in fiat currencies and cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin, ethereum, DASH, NEM, and ERC20 compliant tokens, among others. In September, it was announced that DigitalX and Stargroup (ASX:STL) have joined forces to develop “two way” bitcoin ATMs to buy and sell bitcoin.
