Rumors suggest Kim Jong-Un may have gotten vaccinated against COVID-19 back in May Kim made no public appearances for about a month between May 6 and June 4. Rumors are circulating among North Korean cadres that the country’s leader, Kim Jong Un, was vaccinated against COVID-19 in May. According to a Daily NK source on Thursday, the rumors are relatively detailed. Namely, they say that Kim was vaccinated at a villa located away from Pyongyang more than three months ago. Kim made an unplanned disappearance when he experienced high fever and nausea after the vaccination, according to some of the rumors. In fact, Kim made no public appearances for about a month between May 6, when he attended an arts performance for military families, and June 4, when he chaired a Central Committee politburo meeting. North Korean cadres believe it highly likely Kim was vaccinated at this time. There are even rumors that about 100 people have been vaccinated, including high-ranking cadres who meet with Kim in person. However, some people believe Kim was not the first person in North Korea to be vaccinated. Given the nature of the North Korean system – which puts the safety of the country’s “supreme leader” first – it is very likely the authorities carried out a test vaccination to determine any side effects before administering a dose to Kim.www.dailynk.com/english/rumors-sugges...
North Korea: Kim Jong-Un calls for urgent action on climate change North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un called on his officials to deal with food supply issues and highlighted the danger of climate change. Typhoons last year badly impacted vital crops, while weeks of drought followed by heavy monsoon rains have damaged them this year as well. He said measures to overcome "abnormal climate" were needed, and asked also officials to tackle drought and floods. His comments came in a speech to the ruling party's Politburo on Thursday. Mr Kim had said that the "danger" of climate change had become "higher in recent years adding that "urgent action" needed to be taken. Mr Kim also called for improvements to the country's flood management infrastructure saying: "River improvement, afforestation for erosion control, dyke maintenance and tide embankment projects", should be prioritised. Apart from the damage caused by natural disasters, North Korea's economy has been hit hard by international sanctions, as well as border closures and harsh lockdowns to prevent the spread of Covid. Although North Korea has not reported any Covid cases, it has sealed its borders and imposed lockdowns. www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-58431010
Coronavirus: why did North Korea turn down 3 million Sinovac vaccine doses? North Korea claims to be Covid-free and requested that the shots from the Covax Facility be redirected to countries experiencing surges. Kim Jong-Un touted ‘our style’ of pandemic control, and analysts say safety and efficacy fears, showing self-isolation works and ‘saving face’ could explain the move. For North Korea, the threat posed by Covid-19 could hardly be more stark. The impoverished country’s health care system is dilapidated and overstretched, while its 26 million people are especially vulnerable to disease due to chronic undernourishment that the UN estimates affects more than 40 per cent of the population. Still, the isolated state ruled by Kim Jong-Un, which claims to be Covid-free, has been loath to accept help from the outside world, repeatedly shunning offers of life-saving vaccines. This week, Unicef said the North had requested that nearly 3 million doses of the Chinese-made Sinovac vaccine be redirected to other countries “in view of the limited global supply of Covid-19 vaccines and recurrent surge in some countries”. Kim previously called for North Koreans to brace for prolonged Covid-19 restrictions, indicating the nation’s borders would stay closed despite worsening economic and food conditions. Since the start of the pandemic, North Korea has used tough quarantines and border closures to prevent outbreaks, though its claim to be entirely virus-free is widely doubted.www.theguardian.com/world/2021/sep/03...
North Korea: Why doesn't it have enough food this year? North Korea has suffered deadly famines in the past and now its leader, Kim Jong-Un, has warned of severe food shortages ahead. It's very difficult to get reliable information out of the highly secretive country. The agricultural economy is still recovering from years of famine and mismanagement under Kim family leadership; and North Korea's "military first" ethos means that civilians are prioritised behind the armed forces for many resources, including food. So what do we know about the food situation, and why might it be so bad this year? What's happened to food prices? One of the clearest indicators of shortages is a rise in the price of basic foods. The price for a kilo of corn (maize) rose sharply in February to 3,137 won (equivalent to about £2), according to data from the Daily NK website, which gathers information from contacts within North Korea. North Korea has a food shortage equivalent to about two or three months' supplies, according to a UN Food and Agriculture Organisation report. "If this gap is not adequately covered through commercial imports and/or food aid, households could experience a harsh lean period between August and October 2021."www.bbc.com/news/57524614

Kim Jong-Un grapples with the worst crisis in his reign so far: A crippled economy, no COVID-19 vaccines and food shortages As the rest of the world grapples with dangerous new variants, North Korea continues to proudly proclaim it remains COVID-19 free. Its virus control strategy to date has been simple and effective: strict quarantine measures have kept the virus from coming in by keeping everything else out. But while North Korea may not have the virus within its borders, its pandemic defence has come at a cost. Along with crippling its economy, the closure has also meant there is no clear strategy on how the regime will vaccinate its population to protect it against a wave of the coronavirus. In fact, the best intelligence is that North Korea has so far not managed to acquire any vaccines against COVID-19, not even for leader Kim Jong Un himself. Without access to vaccines and no real plan on how to get them, the population and regime remain vulnerable to any breach of the fortress. And now the country appears in turmoil as its 37-year-old leader faces the worst crisis in his nearly decade-long reign. North Korea may pay huge toll for pandemic restrictions As reports first swirled at the beginning of last year that the coronavirus was spreading, North Korea pulled up its drawbridge. With a malnourished population and a decrepit health system, the regime knew a virus outbreak would be devastating, said Professor Jung Dae-jin from the Aju Institute of Unification. "North Korea itself knows it lacks the health infrastructure to cope with the COVID-19," he said.www.abc.net.au/news/2021-07-14/kim-jo...
Kim Jong-Un says climate change is crippling North Korea and the country needs an 'urgent' response Kim Jong-Un pointed to "abnormal climate" as a reason for North Korea's crises. The country has been shaken by repeated floods, a food crisis, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Kim said that "disastrous weather" is getting worse around the world and North Korea must protect itself. North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has blamed climate change as one of the reasons for the country's ongoing food crisis and cataclysmic floods that have battered its northeast regions. He called on his officials to enact an "urgent" response to the slew of disasters his regime is facing at a politburo meeting, according to state media KCNA on Thursday. Kim stressed the need to improve North Korea's land management after floods destroyed bridges and homes on the country's east coast last month. The "danger" of an "abnormal climate," he said, has risen in the last few years. Kim added that he wants officials to begin an "active and ambitious plan" to improve rivers, manage erosion control, maintain dykes, and start tide embankment projects as part of the country's regular Five-Year Plan. He added that "disastrous weather is getting ever more pronounced worldwide" and that North Korea will be vulnerable to the change, per KCNA. North Korea has also been hit by a severe food crisis that Kim himself has admitted is "tense." Typhoons last year, as well as erratic weather alternating between monsoon rains and droughts, obliterated the country's supply of food, reported Reuters. According to Seoul's National Intelligence Service, the authoritarian government even started distributing its military grain reserves to sustain the population, Kim himself, known to be portly, has reportedly lost weight, which state media has said North Koreans "heartbroken." A photo shown in a tweet by Seoul-based North Korea news and analysis site NKNews displayed Kim looking considerably thinner than he had in the past.

Japanese court summons Kim Jong-Un over rights abuse claims Thousands of ethnic Koreans left Japan for North Korea decades ago lured by promise of a better life. A Japanese court has summoned North Korea’s leader to face demands for compensation by several ethnic Korean residents of Japan who say they suffered human rights abuses in North Korea after joining a resettlement programme there that described the country as a “paradise on Earth”, a lawyer and plaintiff have said. Kim Jong-Un is not expected to appear in court for the hearing on 14 October, but the judge’s decision to summon him was a rare instance in which a foreign leader was not granted sovereign immunity, said Kenji Fukuda, a lawyer representing the five plaintiffs. They are demanding 100m yen ($900,000) each in compensation from North Korea for human rights violations they say they suffered under the resettlement programme. Hazmat Suited Soldiers in SURREAL North Korea Parade Hundreds of soldiers and workers in hazmat suits march through North Korea’s capital in an overnight celebration to mark the the country’s 73rd founding anniversary. Overseen by Kim Jong-un, the parade centred around the country’s major military units. The North has previously rolled out many of its major provocative weapons. But no intercontinental ballistic missiles were on show at this paradewww.youtube.com/watch?v=cNX3xvnUIiI

North Korea: Military parade features hazmat suits, gas masks North Korea has held a military parade to mark the communist state's 73rd founding anniversary, but did not display any major ballistic missiles. State media photos of the night-time parade showed marching soldiers and workers in hazmat suits instead. Leader Kim Jong-un, who looked visibly slimmer, was seen among the unmasked crowds hugging children. North Korea is suffering from food shortages and a deepening economic crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic. On Thursday, state media released images of fire trucks, tractors, and fireworks at the parade. One section of the parade marched in what appeared to be bright red hazmat suits and gas masks, which may be a sign that a special force has been created to help prevent the spread of Covid-19, according to our correspondent. The special red hazmat unit is especially curious and would suggest Pyongyang is keen to show its people that even as the country claims it has no cases of the virus, the constant battle against the spread of Covid-19 goes on.www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-58497157
IOC bans North Korea from attending 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics North Korea has been banned from participating in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics after being suspended from the IOC for failing to send athletes to Tokyo. North Korea has been suspended from the International Olympic Committee until the end of 2022 meaning it will not be allowed to send a team of athletes to the 2022 Beijing Winter Games. The ban was implemented by the IOC after the nation failed to send a team to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. North Korea pulled out of the Games in April citing serious health concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic as Japan declared a state of emergency in relation to the virus. IOC President Thomas Bach said financial support to North Korea would also be withdrawn for the duration of the suspension and financial aid withheld due to sanctions would be definitively forfeited.www.skynews.com.au/australia-news/spo... www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3n63VaW4iA
North Korea says it tested long-range cruise missiles North Korea says it successfully test fired what it described as newly developed long-range cruise missiles over the weekend, its first known testing activity in months, underscoring how it continues to expand its military capabilities amid a stalemate in nuclear negotiations with the United States. The Korean Central News Agency said Monday the cruise missiles, which had been under development for two years, successfully hit targets 1,500 kilometers (932 miles) away during flight tests on Saturday and Sunday. The North hailed its new missiles as a "strategic weapon of great significance" that meets leader Kim Jong-Un's call to strengthen the country's military might, implying that they were being developed with an intent to arm them with nuclear warheads. Kim's powerful sister last month hinted that North Korea was ready to resume weapons testing while issuing a statement berating the United States and South Korea for continuing their joint military exercises, which she said was the "most vivid expression of U.S. hostile policy."www.ctvnews.ca/world/north-korea-says...
Man asks barber to style his hair like Kim Jong-Un, result will leave you in splits. A man went to a salon to get a haircut. He did not want any fancy haircut but his only demand was that he wanted his hair styled like North Korea's Supreme leader Kim Jong Un. That, perhaps, could have been challenging but the barber pulled it off like a pro. After getting his hair styled like the North Korean leader, he shared the video on TikTok. Needless to say, the video has gone crazy viral on social media.youtu.be/bJ07qCSEfFg
FROM ONE TO UN-OTHER Queen sends bizarre celebratory message to Kim Jong-Un as tyrant ramps up nukes and starves millions THE QUEEN has sent a bizarre celebratory message to Kim Jong-Un regarding North Korea's National Day. The message was so bizarre that some believed it must be a hoax, but sources told The Daily Beast that Queen Elizabeth really did send the note to the head of a rogue regime. Her Majesty's note comes amid World War Three fears after it was revealed Kim has built a new long-range cruise missile capable of carrying nuclear weapons. The Monarch's message only came to light after Pyongyang issued a press release on behalf of the North Korea tyrant. The release, published by North Korean state media states: "Kim Jong-Un, president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), received greetings from Elizabeth II, queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, on September 7." The message was sent two days before North Korea’s founding day parade among dozens of other messages from leaders of countries, according to the Daily Beast. The Queen’s message read: "As the people of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea celebrate their National Day, I send my good wishes for the future." Korea expert Aidan Foster-Carter, a senior research fellow at Leeds University, told the outlet that North Korea "regularly greets our queen on her birthday but I find no trace of any message from us/her to them—until now. So this is intriguing." And although there might have been some disbelief, a royal spokesman confirmed the Queen did send the message to the dictator for the 73rd anniversary of the country's founding as the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.www.thesun.co.uk/news/16138479/queen-...
Reports of people ‘starving’ as North Korea struggles to feed itself United Nations Security Council sanctions, the COVID-19 closure of its border with China, and a 2020 drought followed by typhoon rains are combining to create severe food shortages in North Korea, with concerns growing about widespread malnutrition and a potential repeat of the country’s 1990s famine. North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un acknowledged the problem at a June meeting of the Workers’ Party’s Central Committee. In North Korea “10 million people are considered food insecure … 140,000 children under 5 suffer acute malnutrition … and higher rates of malnutrition and mortality are anticipated for 2021,” “Children under seven, pregnant and nursing women, the frail, the elderly … these are the people that are starving, right now,” “There are so many more beggars, some people died from hunger in the border area,” “The people’s food situation is now getting tense,” Kim said according to North Korea’s state media, adding that the agricultural sector had failed to meet its grain production plan because of the damage by last year’s typhoons. Kim also mentioned the effect of COVID-19. Sanctions crippling Although analysts agreed that the COVID-19 pandemic, which prompted the government to close its China border, has played a significant role in the now chronic food shortfalls, some have argued the source of the problem actually lies in 2017. The United Nations Security Council imposed sanctions 2375 and 2397 in September and December of 2017, to limit North Korea’s imports of crude oil and refined petroleum products. Deprived of fuel, farmers have been hindered in planting and harvesting crops and getting their products to market. Bron : Aljazeera
KIM JONG-BOOM US slams North Korea cruise missile test amid WW3 tensions as Kim’s new weapon CAN carry nukes & hit US bases THE US has slammed North Korea's test-fire of a new long-range cruise missile and warned of the "threat" the nation poses internationally. It was revealed Kim Jong-Un's new weapon CAN carry nukes and may potentially target US bases in South Korea, where thousands of troops remain stationed. The almost 1,000-mile range of the high-tech projectiles also means they could easily strike most of Japan - seeing the US remind the world of their "ironclad" commitment to the countries. "This activity highlights DPRK's continuing focus on developing its military program and the threats that poses to its neighbors and the international community," a statement from the US military read. "The US commitment to the defense of the Republic of Korea and Japan remains ironclad". The military reassured Americans they will "continue to monitor the situation" after Kim's missile launch this weekend. North Korea's state media said the new missile had been successfully fired and managed to hit a target 930 miles away. The missiles fell into the country's territorial waters both on Saturday and Sunday after flying for over two hours "in pattern 8 flight orbits".www.thesun.co.uk/news/16120368/north-...
