Beleggingsmogelijkheden Turkije - Deel 2

Nooit in 1 keer.
19.09.2007 Market comment Turkey The East Capital Turkish Fund advanced 7.7% today, while the Turkish market closed with a 9.0% gain. Figures are in USD. Global markets also recorded sharp gains today after the US Federal Reserve (FED) cut interest rates for the first time in four years - by 50 basis points to 4.75%. The rate cut was higher than most analysts’ expectations of 25 basis points. East Capital believes that the outstanding one-day performance of the Turkish market can be explained not only by the FED’s decision but also by recent positive domestic developments. Political uncertainties have faded following the market-friendly outcome of the parliamentary elections in July and the successful completion of the presidential election in August. Improvements in the inflation outlook and the Turkish Central Bank’s earlier-than-expected interest rate cut also support the positive market sentiment. The Central Bank unexpectedly cut its benchmark rate by 25 basis points to 17.25% on 13 September, after keeping the rates on hold for 14 months. The bank also signaled further “measured rate cuts” depending on the local and global conditions.

Mooi tabelletje, Turkse beurs is dus in 10 jaar ongeveer 20!!! keer zoveel waard geworden in lira's

Spreiding is altijd goed.

Sharp slowdown in Turkish growth By Vincent Boland in Ankara Published: December 10 2007 10:25 | Last updated: December 10 2007 11:45 Turkey’s economy slowed sharply in the third quarter and is likely to expand at a much slower rate than the government or investors had been expecting, figures published on Monday showed. Gross domestic product growth in the third quarter of 2007 was 1.5 per cent – less than half the level that economists and analysts had forecast. The growth rate for the nine months to the end of September was 3.8 per cent, well below the rate of at least 5 per cent that the government has been banking on as parliament prepares to vote on next year’s budget. The steep decline was the result of a broad slowdown across swathes of the economy, according to figures from the official statistics institute. Agriculture, services and construction were all lower, while the main impetus for the growth that occurred came from private consumption, which appears to be rising after a period of stagnation. “Overall, these numbers are very disappointing – there is very little positive to talk about,” said Timothy Ash, an economist at Bear Stearns in London, in a note to investors. Turkey’s central bank is due to meet on Thursday to discuss interest rate policy, and investors and analysts had been betting that it would cut the benchmark rate by 50 basis points. The latest GDP figures, however, may make the bank’s task more complicated, analysts said, after the monetary policy committee started what was assumed to be a cycle of interest rate cuts last month. The main reason why the economy slowed so much was because of a fall in agricultural production, which was severely hit by a heatwave and drought during the summer. Most of the impact of this decline was felt in the third quarter, so it is likely that the sector will not have the same drag on the economy in the next three months. But the main concern for the bank might be the rise in private consumption, which surged by 3.6 per cent in the third quarter after contracting in the previous quarter. Analysts said the bank would need to be conscious of the impact on consumption of any rate cut it was preparing to announce to avoid yet another uptick in inflation. The slowdown will be a big disappointment for the government, which won July’s general election largely on its record in steering the economy back to robust annual growth after a disastrous financial crisis in 2001. This year’s third-quarter growth rate was the lowest since then.
Turkey: Banks profits jump 35% to 6.9bn euro 09:00 - 28 December 2007 Turkish banks' total net profit from September 2006 until September 2007 jumped 35% to 11.8 billion lira (6.9 bn euros) showing that the Turkish banking sector retains its high growth potential, the banking watchdog BDDK said in a report. The BDDK added that consumer spending is on an upward trend and domestic demand is showing signs of strength following a mere two percent gross national product growth in the third quarter of 2007. The banks' total assets also rose 8.8 percent to 543.5 billion lira in September from 499.5 billion lira at the end of 2006, the report said. The BDDK said global capital was still interested in investing in Turkey and rising foreign exchange reserves at the Central Bank reduced Turkey's vulnerability to financial shocks. bron: www1.reporter.gr/default.asp?pid=16&l... Daar heeft o.a.
