april nieuws: . Airline SAS seeks equity bids as part of bankruptcy proceedings April 5 (Reuters) - Scandinavian airline SAS AB said on Thursday it had initiated steps to raise equity and would seek bids as part of its ongoing Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in the United States. The embattled carrier filed for bankruptcy protection in the U.S. last year, as it sought to slash costs and debt amid strikes from pilots after wage talks collapsed. The airline, which earlier aimed to raise SEK 9.5 billion ($911.20 million) in equity financing, now said the final sum would be dependent on the bidding process and generation of additional liquidity by the airline. It expects "little or no recovery for subordinated unsecured creditors and only a modest recovery for general unsecured creditors due to anticipated debt reductions and the need for substantial new equity capital." SAS, whose biggest owners are Sweden and Denmark, said in a statement that it expects revenues to return to pre-COVID levels in fiscal year 2024, and reach up to about 58 billion Swedish crowns for 2026. It also sees a significantly higher level of liquidity than the previously expected 15% for 2023. In February, the Scandinavian airline posted a slightly smaller first-quarter loss before tax than a year earlier, as bookings for the quarter and the summer months were better than expected. en beter aprilnieuws: . COPENHAGEN, April 17 (Reuters) - SAS will not be using the second tranche of its $700 million debtor-in-possession (DIP) term loan in the second quarter of the year, due to stronger than expected development of the airline's liquidity, the airline said on Monday. SAS may, depending on the development of its liquidity, continue discussions with Apollo regarding access to the second tranche of the DIP term loan at a later stage of the Chapter 11 process. The airline will continue to pursue other financing initiatives that could boost its liquidity at a lower cost than a near-term use of the second tranche of the DIP term loan.

May 16 (Reuters) - SAS's rescue has moved a step closer after a U.S. court approved a revised plan from the Scandinavian airline to raise equity. The long-suffering airline filed for U.S Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last year. The court approval of the fundraising proposal - a key element of the "SAS Forward" rescue plan - means investors may start placing bids for a stake in the airline. An SAS spokesperson said the new procedure reflected court concerns in April about a requirement for bidders to accept the participation of Denmark - the airline's biggest shareholder alongside Sweden - in the equity raising. "That formal requirement has been removed," she said. "But we are clearly stating that the Danish state's support is essential to succeed with SAS Forward and to emerge from the Chapter 11 process." That fact would be taken into account when assessing other bids, she said, adding: "SAS' intention remains clear that we are doing this together with Denmark." In the updated plan, SAS said that without the support of Denmark the emergence from Chapter 11 "will face significant uncertainty, cost, and delay." Earlier this month, sources told Reuters that U.S. asset manager Apollo was considering taking a majority stake in SAS. "The final amount of equity financing raised will depend upon the competitive equity raise process along with the company's ongoing ability to generate additional liquidity," SAS said in a statement late on Monday. Denmark has said it is willing to increase its stake to around 30% from around 22%, if others investors were to take a majority stake. SAS, whose shares were up 8% at 1013 GMT, said in the statement the deadline for bids was around 13 weeks from now. It said it now planned to complete the Chapter 11 process "in the latter part of the second half of 2023". When it started the process in July 2022, its plan was to finalise it within 9-12 months.

STOCKHOLM, June 1 (Reuters) - Scandinavian airline SAS expects a "busy summer season", it said on Thursday as it reported a reduced second-quarter pretax loss. The airline, which sought bankruptcy protection last July, posted a pretax loss of 1.41 billion Swedish crowns ($138.9 million) in the three months to April 30, against a 1.57 billion loss a year earlier. Sydbank analyst Jacob Pedersen said he had expected a loss of about 1.8 billion crowns. "We are pleased to see that the overall underlying demand for travel was healthy during the quarter despite the (wider) economic uncertainties," CEO Anko van der Werff said in a statement The Nordic airline, like others in Europe's aviation sector, has struggled to contend with post-pandemic challenges including labour issues and high costs that have prevented a swift exit from its bankruptcy proceedings. However, SAS and other airlines have registered better than expected bookings for the coming months seasons as growing numbers of people travel again after prolonged COVID-19 disruption. ............... STOCKHOLM, Oct 5 (Reuters) - Crisis-hit airline SAS said on Wednesday it had reached agreements with 10 of its lessors representing 36 aircraft to amend the terms of existing lease contracts. The Scandinavian carrier said in a statement the tweaked agreements constituted an important step in reconfiguring its fleet and achieving a plan to save 7.5 billion Swedish crowns ($690 million) annually by 2026. "Through the amended lease agreements, SAS is well on track in achieving the targeted annual cost savings of at least 850 million Swedish crowns to 1.0 billion in reduced aircraft lease and capital costs," it said. Long-struggling SAS, ravaged by the pandemic and pressured by low-cost rivals, sought bankruptcy protection in the United States in July. It has said reducing costs for unused leased planes has been a key component of its savings plan. [nL8N30211S] It said on Wednesday it intended to continue negotiations with some of its other lessors. ($1 = 10.8699 Swedish crowns)
