    Powell: More rate hikes are still on the table
    Additional interest rate hikes are still on the table and rates could remain elevated for longer than expected, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said Friday.

    In a highly anticipated speech Friday at the Kansas City Fed's annual economic symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Powell said the Fed will pay close attention to economic growth and the state of the labor market when making policy decisions.

    "Although inflation has moved down from its peak — a welcome development — it remains too high," Powell said. "We are prepared to raise rates further if appropriate, and intend to hold policy at a restrictive level until we are confident that inflation is moving sustainably down toward our objective."

    Powell sluit verdere renteverhogingen niet uit

    De Federal Reserve is bereid om de rente verder te verhogen als dit gepast is. Ook wil de centrale bank een restrictief beleid handhaven totdat de inflatie duurzaam daalt. Deze boodschap had voorzitter Jerome Powell vrijdag in zijn toespraak tijdens het symposium voor centrale banken in Jackson Hole in Wyoming.

    "De inflatie is afgenomen, maar blijft te hoog", zei Powell. De centrale bank is blij met de vooruitgang die is geboekt met het terugdringen van de inflatie maar er is "nog een lange weg te gaan", zei de Fed-voorzitter.

    Vorige zomer piekte de inflatie in de Verenigde Staten op het hoogste niveau in 40 jaar. Een jaar later is de inflatie teruggezakt tot 3,2 procent in juli.

    Wanneer de economische groei robuust blijft, dan zou dit het bestrijden van de inflatie onder druk kunnen zetten. En wanneer de groei hoger uitkomt dan de trend, dan rechtvaardigt dit mogelijk verdere renteverhogingen, aldus Powell.

    Dat betekent niet dat de markt daar direct voor moet vrezen, want de centraal bankier benadrukte in zijn toespraak dat de Fed zich nu in een positie bevindt om "voorzichtig te werk te gaan."

    "We zullen voorzichtig te werk gaan als we beslissen of we verder zullen verkrappen of dat we in plaats daarvan de beleidsrente constant zullen houden en nieuwe data zullen afwachten", zei Powell.

    Powell erkende vrijdag dat er onzekerheid bestaat over tot hoe hoog de rente moet stijgen om de economie voldoende in toom te houden. De voor inflatie gecorrigeerde rentetarieven zijn gestegen tot historisch hoge niveaus, waardoor ze "ruim boven de gangbare schattingen" liggen van de zogeheten neutrale rente die de economische activiteit niet stimuleert of vertraagt, aldus de centraal bankier.

    "Maar we kunnen de neutrale rentevoet niet met zekerheid vaststellen en dus is er altijd onzekerheid over het precieze niveau van monetaire beleidsbeperking", aldus de Fed-voorzitter, die benadrukte dat de Fed niet van plan is om zijn inflatiedoelstelling van 2 procent te verhogen.

    De Fed verhoogde de rente vorige maand tot de huidige bandbreedte van 5,25 tot 5,50 procent. Voor het komende rentebesluit in september rekent een zeer ruime meerderheid van de markt op een pas op de plaats. De kans op nog een renteverhoging in november wordt door de markt na de toespraak van Powell hoger ingeschat.

    Geduldig irritant lang wachten, op de uitvoering van de uitrookprocedure. Dat is, met grote voorsprong, het meest praktisch en realistisch.

    Die uitrookprocedure kan 6 tot 12 maanden duren. In de tussentijd stijgt het bedrag dat je terugkrijgt (door rente) en daalt de koers van DSM-Firmenich. Het zou me niet verbazen als je straks 1,5x zoveel aandelen van DSM-Fi. kunt kopen als je nu DSM hebt....
    Als je bang bent dat DSM-fi. te veel gaat stijgen kun je die nu alvast kopen van het geld dat je straks krijgt. Moet je natuurlijk wel beschikbaar hebben.

    Ik heb ook nog een deel, maar kan het niet echt een probleem noemen, deze zijn namelijk nog 114 euro waard. Als het goed is heb je inmiddels al een uitbetaling gehad (20% waarde).
    Ik heb aandelen inmiddels wel weer ingeslagen tegen 95 euro (te vroeg dus)

    Accenture's 'Technology Vision 2023' report, which collects information from a global survey of 4,777 executives and managers from 34 countries and 25 industries, reveals that 98% of business leaders affirm that generative artificial intelligence will have an important role as a central element of their business strategies in the next three to five years. What's more, 81% are or are going to experiment with generative AI during this year 2023.

    Accenture estimates that up to 40% of all working hours will be supported by AI-based languages. "We are experiencing a boom comparable to that of the launch of the iPhone due to the ease of use of generative AI, popularized by ChatGPT, as we analyzed in the report 'A new era of generative AI for all', published this year by Accenture. In business, we are facing the next level of automation and intelligence, which will allow people to engage in jobs with greater added value. In particular, it will give greater agility to the distribution chain by increasing the level of customer service," explained the Data & AI Supply Chain Managing Director of Accenture, Marta Vila, at the Dialogues session in La Vanguardia on "AI applied to business solutions."

Among the main advantages of AI for the pharmaceutical industry, thanks to its ability to manage large volumes of data, in the opinion of Bayer director Pere Benítez, are "demand planning, optimizing and reducing transport costs, for the benefit of sustainability."

    From Sanofi, Jordi Escayola agrees on the number of possible uses of AI, among which he also pointed out the improvement of the supply chain, with a "bet for innovation" while advocating for "prudence," which translates into "studying the regulatory framework both external and internal to prioritize and see where artificial intelligence can really help us."

    The most sought-after professional profiles to develop uses of AI within companies are the "hybrids with knowledge of data management" in addition to their own specializations, Pere Benítez revealed. "The challenge is to create a participatory environment where teams can adapt to this dynamic environment," Escayola added.     Daar heb je helemaal gelijk in.

    De vraag is alleen of de huidige waardering de puinhoop zo langzamerhand dekt.

    Je zou toch denken dat als er nog maar zo'n 40% over is van de historische waarde, het zo langzamerhand wel welletjes is.

    Bedrijven die volop hebben ingezet op verduurzaming zitten nu in de hoek waar de klappen vallen.
    Dit geldt niet alleen voor de sector waarin DSM-Firmenich actief is maar ook voor andere sectoren.
    Ook de sector die zich bezig houdt met batterij/accu opslag (AMG) laadpalen (Alfen) etc etc zitten in een mindere periode.

    Het is wachten op betere tijden is mijn idee.

    Idd zeg het maar wat de toekomst ons gaat brengen!!

    Toen ik vanochtend de krant opensloeg (telegraaf) en het artikel las over de mobiliteit in de toekomst, alles en iedereen moet zoveel mogelijk met het openbaar vervoer (die op veel plekken al is verdwenen, lees wegbezuinigd) en dat we het moeten doen met en deelauto dan maak ik mij grote zorgen voor de toekomst.

    Als je verder leest dat China enorm blijft investeren in steenkolencentrales dan snap ik het niet meer wat hier allemaal aan het doen zijn in dit kikkerlandje.

    Het lijkt er steeds meer op dat de politiek, het ambtenaren apparaat ook maar wat doen en plannen uitwerken die niet realistisch zijn en de burger enorm veel geld gaan kosten wat er niet is.
