    Oekraïne haalt nog eens 22 gevangenen terug uit gevangenschap

    Oekraïne zegt dat het nog eens 22 soldaten uit Russische gevangenschap heeft bevrijd. Het gaat om gewonde mannen die eerder op verschillende plekken aan het front hadden gevochten, zei Andrij Jermak, de stafchef van president Volodimir Zelenski, maandag op de berichtendienst Telegram.

    "De oudste van onze soldaten is 54 jaar oud, de jongste 23", aldus Jermak, die ook foto's en een video met de mannen plaatste. Ze zouden nu psychologische en medische hulp krijgen.

    Rusland en Oekraïne hebben al herhaaldelijk gevangenen uitgewisseld. Jermak zei dat Kiev blijft werken aan de vrijlating van alle Oekraïense gevangenen. Volgens cijfers van Kiev zijn sinds de Russische inval op 24 februari 2022 al zo'n 2.600 Oekraïners teruggekeerd uit gevangenschap.

    Ukraine gains tactical success near Robotyne

    The Ukrainian military had a tactical success in the direction of the village of Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region.

    Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, announced this.

    Today, the brigade showed a video featuring the destruction of a tank in this settlement. The armored vehicles were monitored using a drone.

    “The video shows an enemy T-72 tank. One accurate hit and the tank turns into scrap metal,” the brigade commented on the video.

    The brigade also added that they are now confidently moving forward in the direction of Zaporizhzhia and inflicting losses on the enemy’s manpower and equipment.

    The defense lines further south of Robotyne are likely to be worse manned than these forward positions, given that Russian forces likely had to draw on a significant portion of their available forces to man the first line of defensive positions north and east of Robotyne.

    As previously reported, to advance in this direction, the 47th Brigade actively uses American M2A2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.

    As Ukraine's troops go head-to-head with the Russian army, they face plenty of modern weapons, such as drones that can drop bombs on soldiers, Ka-52 attack helicopters armed to the teeth with anti-tank guided missiles, and precision munitions that can hit with accuracy not seen in past conflicts.

    Both sides are also navigating threats and challenges that have long been a part of land warfare, like overwhelming artillery and minefields full of anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, threats hidden in the mud that erupt with a violent explosion when triggered and make any sort of advance tricky and time-consuming.

    There are also sprawling trenches. They run deep along the front lines and have been seen in photos from the war, such as around Bakhmut, which saw some of the bloodiest fighting of the war. The trenches are, as a French photographer described them years earlier, "endless bowels of Earth."

    These winding trenches hinder advances by enemy troops and protect defenders, zig-zagging and crossing the battlefield, and in some respects, they're strikingly reminiscent of scenes of trench warfare from World War I and World War II, showing the enduring presence of this type of fighting.

    Russia is facing a labor shortage.     We hebben toch wat geleerd sedert WOI, zoals geen 60 jarige afbetaling in cash ter grootte van 2/5 van het GDP meer eisen.

    Ook na WO II heeft West-Duitsland tot in de jaren 50 herstelbetalingen gedaan, en Oost-Duitsland heeft nog wat langer mogen betalen weliswaar in steeds dalende hoeveelheden. Deze keer waren vooral goederen en producten. Zo ook Japan.

    Irak betaalt nu ook nog af, maar een bedrag gelinkt aan inkomsten van oil for food programma en dus niet de gehele economie.

    Een Rusland met minder corrupte leiders kan heel gemakkelijk een schappelijke afbetaling aan.
