    Leuven, Belgium, 2 September 2019 – 7.30 AM CET – Oxurion NV (Euronext Brussels: OXUR), a biopharmaceutical company developing innovative treatments to preserve vision in patients with diabetic eye disease, announces that it will make a late breaking presentation covering the data from its positive Phase 1 clinical study with THR-149, a potent plasma kallikrein inhibitor, in patients with diabetic macular edema (DME) at the 19th European Society of Retina Specialists (EURETINA) 2019 Congress, which takes place from the 5-8 September in Paris, France.
    Pravin Dugel, M.D., Managing Partner of Retinal Consultants of Arizona and Clinical Professor of Roski Eye Institute, Keck USC School of Medicine will be presenting ‘Results of a phase 1, open label, dose escalation study of THR 149 in patients with diabetic macular oedema (DME)’ on Sunday 8th September at 12.36pm at the Amphithéâtre Havane (Level 3) at the Palais des Congres in Paris, France.
    Dr Dugel will also be presenting the THR-149 clinical data at the Retina Society 2019 Annual Meeting on 12 September 2019 at The Landmark Hotel in London, UK.
    During the EURETINA meeting, Oxurion will also be delivering further podium and poster presentations related to its other advanced clinical candidates, THR-687 and THR-317, as well as Ocriplasmin real world clinical and health economics evidence.
    EURETINA aims to promote the advancement of knowledge of all aspects of diabetic retinopathy, including epidemiology, pathology, pathophysiology, investigation and treatment through active collaboration between ophthalmologists and diabetologists.

    (ABM FN) Oxurion zal een presentatie geven over de uitkomsten van zijn Fase 1 klinische studie met THR-149 bij patiënten met diabetisch maculair oedeem op het 19e congres van de European Society of Retina Specialists (EURETINA) 2019 op zondag 8 september in Parijs. Dit kondigde het bedrijf maandag voorbeurs aan.
    Verder zullen er ook gegevens worden gepresenteerd van de andere diabetische klinische kandidaten voor oogziekten, THR-687 (Pan-RGD Integrin Inhibitor) en THR-317 (anti-PlGF) tijdens de Retina Society 2019 Annual Meeting op 12 september in London

    (ABM FN) Oxurion publiceerde maandag nabeurs extra data over zijn oogmedicijn THR-149 dat zich momenteel in fase 1 bevindt. Uit de data bleek dat het middel goed verdragen wordt en dat het bedrijf een fase 2 studie voorbereid, aldus het bedrijf.

    Het Leuvense biotech bedrijf, dat medicijnen maakt om het zicht bij patiënten die door diabetes een slecht zicht hebben te verbeteren, sprak zelf van positieve data. Zo steeg op dag 1 de gemiddelde zichtbaarheid van de patiënten met 7,5 letters na een eenmalige injectie van het proefmedicijn THR-149.

    Na 90 dagen bleek de gemiddelde zichtbaarheid iets gedaald te zijn naar 6,5 letters. Het middel bleek wel veilig en niet-toxisch te zijn voor de patiënten.

    "Deze positieve bevindingen geven ons de informatie en het vertrouwen die nodig is om de volgende fase van de klinische ontwikkeling van THR-149 te plannen” aldus Patrik De Haes, CEO van Oxurion”. “Ze tonen ook aan dat THR-149 het klinische profiel heeft om mogelijk de best-in-class PKal remmer en VEGF onafhankelijke therapie voor de behandeling van diabetisch maculair oedeem te worden”.

    “We bereiden ons momenteel voor om een Fase 2 studie te starten met meerdere injecties van THR-149 en we verwachten dat de eerste patiënt begin 2020 zal worden opgenomen in de Fase 2 studie” aldus de CEO.

    Poster Presentation Featuring Positive Topline data from Phase 1 Trial Evaluating THR-149, a novel, potent plasma kallikrein inhibitor for DME
    Leuven, Belgium , 9 October 2019 – 7.30 AM CET – Oxurion NV (Euronext Brussels: OXUR), a biopharmaceutical company developing innovative treatments to preserve vision in patients with diabetic eye disease, today announces that the Company will be providing a business and clinical update at upcoming American Academy of Ophthalmology's annual meeting (AAO) and Ophthalmology Innovation Summit (OIS@AAO) in San Francisco.
    Patrik De Haes, MD, CEO of Oxurion will be presenting the Company’s business and diabetic eye disease clinical pipeline at the Ophthalmology Innovation Summit (OIS) meeting which will be held on 10th October 2019, at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square.
    In his presentation, Dr De Haes will focus on the prospects for Oxurion’s two VEGF-independent drug candidates, THR-149 and THR-687, which are being developed for diabetic macular edema (DME). THR-149 has recently completed a positive Phase 1 study and Oxurion expects to announce results from an on-going Phase 1 study with THR-687, a pan-RGD integrin antagonist, towards the end of 2019.
    At the American Academy of Ophthalmology's annual meeting (AAO), Arshad M Khanani, MD will present ‘A Phase 1, Open Label, Dose Escalation study of THR-149 for the Treatment of Diabetic Macular Edema (DME)’ (poster presentation – P0455).
    Topline data from the Phase 1 study (n=12) evaluating THR-149 for treatment of DME show that THR-149 is well-tolerated and safe.
    Study data also indicate that a single injection of THR-149 resulted in an immediate (day 1) positive impact on patient’s Best Corrected Visual Acuity (BCVA). This improvement continued with an average improvement in BCVA of up to 7.5 letters being achieved at Day 14. Importantly, this activity was also maintained with an average improvement in BCVA of 6.4 letters at the end of study (Day 90).
    THR-149 has been developed with Bicycle Therapeutics (Nasdaq: BCYC). Oxurion holds the exclusive license to the PKal inhibitor portfolio originating from this partnership.
    Patrik De Haes, M.D., CEO of Oxurion, said: “We are pleased to have the opportunity to present the positive findings from our successful Phase I study to the large number of retinal physicians attending both OIS and AAO. The clinical profile of THR-149 holds potential for it to become a best-in-class PKal inhibitor for the treatment of DME.     Komt er terug leven in de brouwerij?

    (ABM FN) De onderzoeksdata met THR-687 van Oxurion zijn bemoedigend, maar het is nog te vroeg om de commerciële potentie van het middel te kunnen vaststellen. Dit zei analist Sandra Cauwenberghs van KBC Securities dinsdag aan ABM Financial News in reactie op het nieuws.

    Oxurion zelfde noemde de uitkomsten van de studie met THR-687 voor de behandeling van oogziekte diabetisch macula-oedeem succesvol.

    De eerste fase studie beoordeelde de veiligheid van het middel. Er werden ook enkele gegevens gepubliceerd over de efficiëntie van het middel, maar dit is moeilijk om te analyseren volgens Cauwenberghs, aangezien het onderzoek werd uitgevoerd met een kleine proefgroep.

    De fase II studie zal waarschijnlijk in de tweede helft van 2020 van start gaan.

    Verder benadrukte Cauwenberghs dat Oxurion eerder ook al positieve uitkomsten voor de fase I studie met THR-149 publiceerde. Daarmee zal de fase II studie in de eerste helft van het jaar beginnen, aldus de analist.

    Het is voorlopig wel nog moeilijk om het commerciële potentie van de twee behandelingen te beoordelen, meent de analist. Daarvoor zullen de fase II resultaten nodig zijn, voegde ze daaraan toe.

    Aangezien KBC Securities meer waarde toekent aan THR-149 dan aan THR-687 geeft, blijft het beurshuis bij zijn koersdoel van 3,00 euro en werd het koopadvies voor Oxurion gehandhaafd.
