Jacques Potuijt - Winst nemen ABN Amro
Volgen
Zie mijn posting op pagina twee!!!! Toch goed ingeschat!

Top Barclays shareholder says reasons for proposed merger with ABN look 'hazy' LONDON (AFX) - A major Barclays PLC shareholder has said that the current reasons for the proposed merger with ABN Amro (Amsterdam: AABA.AS - news) look 'hazy'. Mark Webster, a senior investment manager at State Street Global Advisors, said: 'We back it to the extent that if it looks sensible when it is brought to the table in terms of financial ratios, then yes. Up to that point, it appears hazy and it's hard for me to put my hand on my heart and say they should go for it.' State Street (NYSE: STT - news) is the seventh largest shareholder in Barclays (LSE: BARC.L - news) according to data provided by Thomson Financial, and holds just over 2 pct. Webster added: 'You have to hope that if Barclays went for ABN that they would go for a nil premium merger at this point given the implicit rise in ABN's share price over the last three weeks.' He was still willing to give Barclays executives the benefit of the doubt and said it had to be assumed that Barclays would not have come to the market unless it had a 'very strong story' on why it wanted to merge with ABN. This, he said, could come either in the shape of a nil premium merger or the company 'knowing something we don't to the extent of the costs that Barclays can take over'. He added: 'Most people seem to be suggesting it's unlikely to happen, which is why you have seen the rise in Barclays' share price.' The fund manager's comments come after TCI, the hedge fund investor pushing for a sale or break-up of ABN Amro, today confirmed it plans to take legal action against the Dutch bank if it fails to talk to potential buyers other than current suitor Barclays PLC. A key top five shareholder in Barclays told Thomson IM News it is currently in talks with the bank to find out 'more details.' A shareholder that holds around 1 pct in Barclays added: 'It's just one of those things that we have to wait and see what Barclays comes up with. There is a feeling that Barclays is looking at the merger more for getting an international profile; there are not that many synergies to be gained. So there are others that can provide better synergies.' Barclays and ABN confirmed they were in merger talks last Monday. A tie-up between the two would rank as Europe's biggest ever financial services transaction, and would create the world's fifth-biggest bank, with a market value of about 80 bln stg. The two sides are reported to have agreed to hold exclusive talks for a 30-day period. Analysts say other European banks -- including ING of the Netherlands, the UK's Royal Bank of Scotland (LSE: RBS.L - news) , and Spain's Banco Santander Central Hispano and Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria -- would be interested in all or parts of ABN, while major US players such as Wachovia (AWO - news) or Bank of America could bid for Barclays. Koersverloop Barclays:
uk.finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=BARC.L&t=...
Jurrian, Wat denken jullie? Men praat met elkaar. Er gaan fusies komen. Welke? Dat is gewoon afwachten. Barclays of geen Barclays. Citybank?

Heerlijk toch?
